Most of the following should be obvious; however, there are people out there that lack common sense or any sort of etiquette. Just to make sure there are no misunderstandings, let's have a list of basic guidelines set for communication between members and staff:
I don't care what the member's rank is; if I see anyone showing any form of disrespect or segregation, they can count on being banned. Obviously, it is highly recommended you listen to the Staff. They were put in charge for a reason. And remember; they can always ban you themselves. Bullies, Flamers, and Trolls -- oh my! Don't understand a few of the said terms? Let's find some definitions...
Bully - n. a blustering, quarrelsome, overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people. Definition courtesy of the Online Dictionary. Flamer - n. those who go around to random sites and start spitting and pissing vinegar to the members, A.K.A spit random insults and start bashing out of random. Troll - n. also considered nuisances of an Online community. Basically screw around with people and their emotions and such.
Need I write that TW does NOT welcome any of the above? Please keep txt speak to a minimum. Have you ever read a book that said something along the lines of:
"Fireheart wz gng 2 go 2 teh gatherin n shre newz w evry1."
Probably not, right? So please keep this OUT of your RolePlay posts. - Use proper punctuation. That should be all that needs to be said.
- Also, always use proper capitalization.
- Please read all of the rules and guidelines before joining. It's also highly recommended that you prowl the Help Desk for additional information as well.
For Support (supt)
If you need any help, do some research in our help board. That's what it's there for, folks. Of course, you could always send our lovely staff a message if you still can't find the answer to your question(s), but always try to find the answer yourself first. Consequences (cons)
Because I believe in second chances, nearly everyone will get one. I say "nearly" because whether or not you'll get one depends on the degree of the offense.
Disrespect of any kind will result in at least a two-week ban. The sentence can be extended, depending on the situation. For example, if you call someone an asshat because they don't think Dustpelt is a jerk, you might just get two weeks. If a staff member says you can't claim a character because it's reserved or currently unavailable, and you blow up at them, you can get up to four [ 4 ] weeks.
[li]If you decide to beg for a canon character from the second series or any plot line that we haven't come to yet, [ i.e. Hawkfrost's counterpart, Dovewing's counterpart, etc. ] we'll make sure that when the character you asked for does become available, you won't be able to register for, buy it OR trade for it. [/li] The only exception to this rule is if you win a contest that has the "future cat" prize. This prize will allow you to reserve a character that is from a later series than the current plot without penalty, and you can even change the counterpart's name!
For more information about canon-claiming and available counterparts, CTRL+F "(clam)".
[li] If, after the first ban, you still haven't learned your lesson, you will get a dramatically expanded sentence, if not a perma-ban. [/li] [/ul] [/blockquote] IC Consequences (iccn)
If your character breaks the Warrior Code or otherwise gets in trouble in character, the leader of that character's Clan will decide the appropriate IC punishment.
i.e. Searching the Elders for ticks for a whole moon, cleaning out bedding, etc.

Claiming Rules (clam)
As mentioned before, you can't claim or reserve the counterpart of a character who isn't on this list. If you message a staff member saying "I can't find -character name-'s counterpart on the list, where is s/he?", you can count on your name going on the Reservation Blacklist. If your name is on the Reservation Blacklist, you can't ever claim or trade for the character's counterpart you asked for. Canon Claiming (cnns)
This will be a first-come, first-serve process. There will be a complete list of available canon counterparts in the Claiming board, along with a separate topic to register for whatever character you chose. However, certain requirements must be met before you can Claim or Trade:
First of all, if you already have three [ 3 ] canon counterparts, you may not register for a fourth. Only one of those three counterparts can be a high rank such as leader, deputy, medicine cat, and/or medicine cat apprentice. It is also preferred that the three counterparts are from three different Clans, but you can have two of the three in the same Clan.
For example, two can be in RiverClan, but at least one counterpart needs to be from ThunderClan, ShadowClan, or WindClan.
[li]If the counterpart you wanted has already been taken, don't fret! You can message the player who had claimed him/her and see if you can get a Trade. If they already have three canon Counterparts, they could be more willing to trade, because they can't register for or switch to another until the current plot is finished. [/li] [li] Although the counterparts will go to the first person to register for them, it still needs to be approved by a staff member. [/li] [/ul] [/blockquote] Reserving a Claim (resv)
Please see (cons) above for information.

Creating New Characters (nchr)
Since there is a limited number of canon counterparts, new and original characters will always be in high demand. We need more allies for Tigerstar, more warriors for the modern LionClan, more WindClan cats, more ShadowClan cats, more RiverClan cats, and more ThunderClan cats. Twisted Warriors will never truly be unique unless it has many original characters beside the canons. It's all up to you.
Twisted Warriors is an account-per-character RPG. Join as "Firetail" as opposed to "Maggie". The only exception is if you are a Staff member. You may have as many characters as you want, but they must all be active. If you have a character that has been inactive for over a month, you must either kill it off or put it up for adoption. The choice is yours. If you have registered for a red-level canon* cat, template or not, you must be posting with it regularly! If "your" canon has been inactive or if you have been "slacking" for THREE [ 3 ] WEEKS, your claim will be forfeited and the canon will be put back up for grabs. Any pissing and moaning about how it "isn't fair" or whatever will earn you a week long ban. It's not fair for the whole site to be held hostage in plot-purgatory until you decide you'll come back. You have been warned.
* Red-level canon cats are crucial to the current plot and are needed in order for it to advance. Reds will change with each "umbrella plot", and the canon list must be checked regularly in consequence. An announcement will be made at the beginning of each umbrella plot to warn members of the new red-level canons. See the Canon List for more information.
Deciding the Name (name)
Before deciding anything, always make sure to check the Character Bans & Encouragements thread. This could save you a lot of time and maybe disappointment later on in the character's development. If you can't decide on a name for your new warrior, try just making an apprentice and letting their leader choose for you when the time comes for their warrior ceremony. If you're having a hard time with even thinking up a prefix for your apprentice, check some of these threads for some ideas/inspiration:
If you still can't decide, you can always ask another member or even the Staff for any ideas. We're all here to help! Deciding the Clan (clan)
Before deciding anything, always make sure to check the Character Bans & Encouragements thread. This could save you a lot of time and maybe disappointment later on in the character's development. If you've stared at the different characters and the considered all four of the Clans at least once, but still couldn't decide for sure which one to write your character in, try consulting this thread for a helpful nudge. If all else fails, you could always ask the other members or even the Staff which Clan they think would bring out your character's full potential. Deciding the Rank (rank)
Before deciding anything, always make sure to check the Character Bans & Encouragements thread. This could save you a lot of time and maybe disappointment later on in the character's development. If you've got a Clan and you've picked a name, but are having a hard time thinking of what your character's rank should be, check out the Allegiance threads in the KinDex for some ideas: Be sure to understand that high ranks like leaders, deputies, and medicine cats are rarely available. If a Clan deputy dies, it does not mean that the deputy position in that Clan is available. The leader of said Clan will have to pick a new deputy entirely -- and most likely won't pick a brand-new character to play the part. Deciding the Personality (prsn)
Before deciding anything, always make sure to check the Character Bans & Encouragements thread. This could save you a lot of time and maybe disappointment later on in the character's development. When it comes to developing a personality, remember to always go for different. The characters that will be created should be as unique as a fingerprint; that's what makes things interesting. Don't worry if you made your character just like you -- there's nothing wrong with that, so long as each of your other characters are unique. Don't favor extremes, either. Nobody likes a Mary Sue/Gary Stu.

Actually RPing (rlpy)
Now we get to the part that it all comes down to -- actually RPing with your characters. Whether you're a seasoned RolePlay veteran or a pitifully oblivious n00b, there are basics we all must follow as a RolePlay community. Let us begin, shall we? Posting Guidelines (clan)
Every in-character post should follow a few basic -- yet concrete -- rules:
Each post must count 200 words minimum. For everyone's convenience, a Word Count tool will be provided. However, if the person you're RPing with averages a 500-word post, the polite [ and actually strongly recommended by Staff ] thing to do is to try and match the post length. It's not hard, especially once the topic has already begun. Describe the sun on your character's fur or the breeze tickling their whiskers, write their thoughts and describe their feelings -- that alone could give you up to 1,000 words if you let it.
[li]Godmodding is strictly forbidden. If a player is Godmodding, they're playing everyone's characters for them.
Example:
[/li] [li] Auto-hitting is also extremely frowned upon. When a character auto-hits in battle, it sounds kind of like this: [/li] [li]Auto-actions are also frowned upon, such as nuzzling another character. For all you know, their character could have pulled away. To avoid awkward moments such as this, try an alternative, such as: "Desertfoot leaned in to nuzzle Flowernose." This way, Flowernose still has the chance to either accept the action or pull away. [/li] [li] Please keep out of character messages to a minimum in your posts. Of course, the occasional "sorry I'm late replying" or "sorry it's short" is acceptable. However, talking about your plans for dinner and other irrelevant topics is just inappropriate. That's what The Lounge is for, folks. [/li] [/ul][/blockquote][/blockquote] Posting With 3+ Players (mltp)
If there are only two players participating in a topic, things are a lot simpler. If, however, you have three or more players participating in a single topic, [ which will happen often because of Patrols ] things could get a little confusing. See these tables:
Two players
Post # | Player Order | 1 | Player 1 | 2 | Player 2 | 3 | Player 1 | 4 | Player 2 | 5 | Player 1 | 6 | Player 2 |
Three players
Post # | Player Order | 1 | Player 1 | 2 | Player 2 | 3 | Player 3 | 4 | Player 1 | 5 | Player 2 | 6 | Player 3 | 7 | Player 1 |
The list goes on and on. Please don't skip over someone if they haven't replied immediately, otherwise you could get:
Three players [ Incorrect ]
Post # | Player Order | 1 | Player 1 | 2 | Player 2 | 3 | Player 3 | 4 | Player 1 | 5 | Player 2 didn't reply for a day, so Player 3 took her place. | 6 | Player 1 | 7 | Player 3 | 8 | Player 1 | 9 | Player 3 | 10 | Player 1 | 11 | Player 2 returns, but has been flushed. |
For this reason, the other participants in the thread must give each other four days to reply. If, after four days, someone doesn't reply, you may "flush" them from the topic. Finished Topics (fint)
Completed topics will be moved to the Twisted Archives board to record different events throughout the RP history. Please notify a Staff member if a topic of yours has recently been finished so they may move it.
