Health Points
(htpt)

Base HP (bshp)
Whether you're a warrior, apprentice, medicine cat, or leader, every rank has a "base" HP. The level of your Defense skill can determine if you are awarded extra health points, but everybody has to start somewhere...
» Apprentices have a base HP of 50.
»» 50 HP » Warriors have a base HP of 100.
»» 100 HP »» Deputies have a base HP of 105.
»»» 105 HP » Leaders have a base HP of 1,000*.
»» 1,000 HP * See Modifications for Leaders
Losing HP (lshp)
The life of a warrior is plagued with hardship. Because of this, as you might have guessed, there are a variety of ways to lose HP. Accidental injury, illness, starvation, and, the most common way -- bloodshed. For a full list of battle tactics and their damage values, consult the Battle Guide.
When to Flee (wfle)
Only fools refuse to run when it's life or death -- A wise warrior knows when it is best to flee. Using this table, you will be able to determine when that point is for you.
Rank | When to Flee | Apprentice | When an apprentice reaches 10 HP or lower, they have been defeated and must flee, or they risk dying. | Warrior/Deputy | When a warrior or deputy reaches 20 HP or lower, they have been defeated and must flee, or they risk dying. |
Reaching 0 HP (rzro)
If you are an apprentice, warrior, medicine cat, medicine cat apprentice, or deputy, reaching 0 HP means you die. If you're a leader, however, the rules are a little different.

Modifications for Leaders
(ldrm)
There are reasons why leaders may take forever to reach their last life; in TW, their HP may be significantly higher than a mere warrior, depending on which life they're on. Consult this table:
Life | Base HP | 9 | 1,000 HP When a leader with 9 lives reaches 100 HP or lower, they then have 8 lives left. | 8 | 900 HP When a leader with 8 lives reaches 105 HP or lower, they then have 7 lives left. | 7 | 750 HP When a leader with 7 lives reaches 110 HP or lower, they then have 6 lives left. | 6 | 500 HP When a leader with 6 lives reaches 130 HP or lower, they then have 5 lives left. | 5 | 375 HP When a leader with 5 lives reaches 140 HP or lower, they then have 4 lives left. | 4 | 295 HP When a leader with 4 lives reaches 150 HP or lower, they then have 3 lives left. | 3 | 200 HP When a leader with 3 lives reaches 130 HP or lower, they then have 2 lives left. | 2 | 175 HP When a leader with 2 lives reaches 25 HP or lower, they then have only 1 life left. | 1 | 110 HP When a leader on their final life reaches 10 HP or lower, they must flee a battle or risk reaching 0 HP, which will mean they will join StarClan. |
As you may have noticed, the less lives a leader has, the weaker that leader becomes. This means that if, for example, a leader leads a battle patrol, the leader will be able to fight for a very long time. With this in mind, the leader must decide when to flee based on how his or her Clanmates are faring.

Ways to Damage HP
(dmhp)
+ + + + + + +
Injury (hurt)
The most common way to lose your HP. Whether the injury is received purposely in battle, accidentally in training, or from a terrible accident or tragedy, all things can/will take either a sliver or a hearty chunk out of your HP.
See the Battle Guide for more information.
Illness (hurt)
Sometimes illness can be fatal -- but even if it isn't, you still lose HP for every illness. Some diseases can deal damage at a rate of -5 HP per one real-life week, but the more aggressive ones can deal a fatal amount of -35 HP per one real-life day if left untreated. If you're an apprentice, this can be a death sentence, especially if you've taken this damage in addition to the disease's weaker stages.
See Losing Health for more information.
Each RP season, the Staff will roll one 50-sided die to determine if there will be a herb shortage for the season. If this happens, an announcement will be posted in every Clan board that is afflicted.
Starvation (strv)
Each Clan has a minimum of 10 able-bodied cats who can catch prey for their Clanmates at any given time; this isn't the problem. The problem starts when it's in the middle of Leaf-Bare and the best fresh-kill haul the whole Clan has seen in three RP weeks was a scrawny mouse and a sorry-looking thrush that turned out to be mostly feathers. This is the season can potentially kill 1/4 of the Clan from starvation. May StarClan protect you all.
See the Catching Prey thread for more information.
Also see the bottom of this part of Losing Health for information on the relationship between starvation and health depletion.
